Another hunt blog?

Mar 5th, 2008 by Mike | Comments (4)

Richard Si has a treasure hunting blog. However the treasure hunt part is currently pushed to the back burner for the more sensational election materials.

Will it face the same faith as the Riddle Raiders treasure hunt blog?

Here another question that’s on my mind. Richard is the moderator for Hunters-Inc a treasure hunters e-group set up by Ismail Omar. Some time ago Ismail Omar gave up running the site and pass it to Richard to handle. In essence Hunters-Inc belong to all members. Recently Richard set up a company called Engage Enterprise to organise treasure hunts and one fine day members woke up and found that their favourite community treasure hunt site now belongs to a profit oriented company. How can this be? To me this unethical.

I would like to see Hunters-Inc being managed as a community site again, by hunters for hunters.

IF the above option becomes available, Mike, I wonder if there is anyone who’s prepared to allocate the time and efforts to manage/moderate the blog.

    I’m just thinking aloud…

Richard is doing a fine job managing the e-group and should continue doing so but purely as a treasure hunter.

ckoh, as a respond to your thinking out loud, one member has come forward.

    Hello Hunters,
Thanks for the feedback, but honest I do not use Hunters-Inc to profit my events management company - ie never a promotion or advertisement to engage specifically in the hunts I organise.

I will continue to ensure that Hunters-Inc still belong to ALL hunters, from novice to masters and that all CoC and/or members may continue to obtain hunt updates or discuss anything related to treasure hunting under the sun.

I promise everyone / every CoC (new, old, rising, rose and dived etc) will continue to get impartial attention regarding treasure hunting in Malaysia.

I have a business (or as Mike put it ‘profit oriented organisation’) hunt website of my own being constructed and hosted on Exabytes as well as a personal blog which are separate and will ensure that Hunters-Inc (of Yahoo groups) is and will still be for every treasure hunter just as IOMAR had originally created it to be wanted it to be.

I merely moderate Hunters-Inc with the help of some other avid hunters and will continue to advertise impartially for all.

    Happy hunting everyone.

    Moderator, Hunters-Inc
