For a charity hunt, I thought the food at dinner was very good.
Now, I know that for a charity hunt, the organiser can’t be chooser when it comes to prize sponsorships. You just take whatever that is given to you. But organiser must all be careful with items that may not be suitable and perhaps use those items for other usage. Tonight we saw the 5th placed team getting 3 or 4 cartons of beers.

Ok, it’s all set. 7pm tonight. Meanwhile read the reader information on how this works for you.
Results via “Cover it live”
For Hospice Klang Hunt on Sunday I’m planning (Maxis broadband willing) to provide minute by minute updates during the dinner and prize presentation via this fantastic piece of live blogging tool. Below a test live covarge where I tried out all the features.
- The good thing about this tool is that you hunters following the live coverage in the comfort of your home can ask questions or provide comments live.
- And unlike blog and twitter updates you don’t have to keep refreshing the page to see new updates. It’s live. (a bit like your instant messaging (IM)
On top of this, you can also follow what’s happening at the event via twitter
comeback CoC – labour of love
Last year’s Kiwanis was his swansong and he has also found new people to carry on the tradition of the CNY hunts. Chong Foo Seong (kroll, dia ini baru betul “sifu”) the doyen of our treasure hunt scene had on many occasions declared his retirement from clerking hunts.
The good news is he is back. Here’s his proposal
ECONOMY MOTOR TREASURE HUNT(S)
I have loads of questions I have stored up which I could not use them in the recent hunts that I have set because they were theme hunts, i.e. Chinese New Year and Kiwanis.
Because of this, I am considering setting a hunt (maybe more) to use up these questions. This hunt is to be a normal hunt as opposed to the no-holds barred Chinese New Year hunts – it will contain questions that are mostly simple/moderate, with a sprinkling of toughies.
The idea is to make the event reasonably cheap and self-funding – thus an economy motor/drive hunt. I am thinking of setting the entry fee at RM140 -150 per team. As hunters are more concerned about hunting than food, I propose that out of the entry fee, RM40-50 is to go towards the prize presentation dinner, which will consist of KFC and soft drinks. This should be palatable to all. The balance of the entry fee will go into a pool from which the prizes are to be awarded. As an idea, I have thought that the pool be divided by the champ getting ½ of the pool, the runner up 2/6th and the 3rd placing
getting 1/6th. As an example, on the basis of just 9 teams taking part, from the pool the winner will get RM450, the runner up RM300 and the 3rd placing 150.00. The prize money may not be much, but it at least will give some incentive towards doing well in the hunt. As this is a labour of love, please note that I will bear all costs for setting the route.
The proposed finish venue is at my house in SS2 or any other venue that can be obtained free of charge and KFC can be served. The date of the hunt is not set, but it will be much like that for the Chinese New Year hunt, on a Saturday to start at about 2 p.m. Preferably, the date of the hunt should be on a Saturday, the eve of a major hunt in KL e.g. Sun Hunt, so that outstation hunters can kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
I am putting this proposal forward to see the preliminary response from hunters out there. My e-mail is cfs6872@gmail.com If you are in favour of the proposal or have suggestions to make, please drop me a line. I have a basic hunt set but I will only proceed to finalise the route once I have received sufficient positive response.
Yours in treasure hunting
Chong Foo Seong
Enter a new CoC?
Here’s my wish list for new CoC:
1. The first hunt is very important. Lots of hunters out there are very selective, once they are not impressed with the first hunt, it will be an up hill battle to get them back. Keep the first hunt as mainstream as possible. Keep all the innovations and creative stuffs for later hunts. Crawl, walk, then only run.
2. Pay great attention to the questions BUT don’t forget that the whole set-up and environment is equally important.
3. Be on time for everything.
Anything to add? What’s your wish list?
