Macam macam ada

“Macam macan ada” at the recent Pintasan Hunt

I met Farid, the guy on the extreme left a few months ago at a banking hall.  Seeing my blur face, he quickly introduced himself as part of the “Macam Macam Ada” treasure hunt team.  Weeks later when I was really sick, he sms me a recipe for a concoction to relief my cough and it actually works and that night I  finally had a good sleep.

This team Macam Macam Ada has been hunting since 2005 and in June this year they started blogging their adventures here. One thing that stands out is their substantial collections of treasure hunt questions and answers. If you are new to treasure hunt and looking for resources to”study” you will find their blog very useful.

theSun Hunt list

Oct 24th, 2008 by Mike | Comments (7)

The Participants List is out.  266 teams, including 20 masters.

I wonder if I signed up using only my chinese name without Michael and the rest of my team members are novices would TOS spot it? I really think TOS should comb the open category list again and also not just against their masters list but against their criteria for masters.

With the current system, the burden is on TOS to make sure they get the masters list right and to be fair they have done well but they cannot be 100% sure, can they?

So here’s a suggestion.

Why not push the burden to the hunters? Why not come out and annouce that they have done their best with regards to the masters list following what ever criteria they used.  And that anyone who fits into their criteria as masters but currently not on the list must declare themselves if they want to take part in theSun hunt or risk being disqualified if found out later. This way the responsibility now falls onto the participants.

On a separate note, I’m so glad to see a few names from my closed hunts venturing to the open.

____________________________________________________

In view of the coming theSun Hunt, TOS updated the masters list with 11 new names. 4 of them are last year’s theSun Open category winners. In an interview with them a few days after the hunt, they shared about the effort it takes to be champions.

MP: From 78th to 1st. How did that happened?

SD: We started to hunt as a proper team in Feb 2006. The Sun Hunt 2006 was only our 5th hunt as a team. Since then, we have participated in more than 40 hunts, winning some and losing more. We have taken it all in our stride and all the practice, hard work and determination over the past 1.5 years have been fruitful.

Read the full interview in the old blog here

Others making it to the list are 2 hunters from Sabah and the rest are CoCs  including this guy who now owes me a coke ;-)

Any other hunters whom should be on that list but are not? Last year fellow hunters spotted a few and TOS swiftly updated the list accordingly.
